Roof Replacement in Rathfarnham
Rathfarnham, DublinRoof Replacement
A full roof replacement on a hipped-roof house in Rathfarnham. With the house scaffolded, we stripped the old tiles and battens back to the roof timbers so the whole roof could be renewed in one go.
We laid a new breathable membrane and new battens, then tiled the roof in dark concrete tiles with new hip and ridge tiles, working around both chimneys. The house now has a uniform new roof from eaves to ridge.
What we did
- Scaffolding around the house
- Old tiles and battens stripped
- New breathable membrane and battens
- New tiles, hips and ridge
New Slate Roof in County Meath
County MeathSlate Roofs
A new slate roof for a large two-storey corner building in a County Meath town centre. Working from full scaffolding with the street open below, we stripped the old slates down to the roof timbers.
New battens went on across every slope of the hipped roof before we slated it, finishing with neat hips and a clean ridge line. The building now has a sound, even slate roof across every slope.
What we did
- Full scaffolding on a busy corner site
- Old slates stripped to the timbers
- New battens on every slope
- New slates, hips and ridge
Slate Roof Renewal in Ranelagh
Ranelagh, Dublin 6Slate Roofs
The rear slate roof of a terraced house in Ranelagh. We took the old slates and battens off back to the rafters, opening up the whole slope so the roof could be rebuilt properly from the timbers up.
With the roof open, we laid a yellow breathable membrane and new battens, then slated the roof again around the chimney stack and roof windows. The rear of the house now has a new slate roof that sits in line with its neighbours.
What we did
- Old slates and battens stripped
- Roof opened up to the rafters
- New breathable membrane and battens
- Re-slated around the chimney and roof windows
Torch-On Felt Flat Roofs in Dun Laoghaire
Blackrock and Dun LaoghaireFelt Roofs
A large modern house between Blackrock and Dun Laoghaire with several flat roof levels, a long row of rooflights and solar panels on top.
We covered every roof level in a torch-on felt system, dressing the felt up and around each rooflight, the solar panel frames and the roof edges. Every level now has one continuous felt finish, with each opening sealed in.
What we did
- Every flat roof level covered
- Felt dressed around each rooflight
- Solar panel frames detailed in
- Edges finished on every level
Torch-On Felt Flat Roof in Blackrock
Blackrock, County DublinFelt Roofs
A single-storey rear extension in Blackrock with three rooflights in a row. We laid a new OSB deck across the roof and built up a kerb around each rooflight.
The roof was then finished in torch-on felt, with every rooflight upstand sealed into the felt. Three rooflights are often where a flat roof leaks first, so each one was detailed individually.
What we did
- New OSB deck across the extension
- Kerbs built around three rooflights
- Torch-on felt laid and sealed
- Each upstand detailed by hand
Torch-On Felt Flat Roof in Kimmage
Kimmage, Dublin 12Felt Roofs
A rear extension in Kimmage with two pitched roof windows set into its flat roof. We stripped the roof down to the joists so the structure underneath could be seen and the new roof built up from a sound base.
A new OSB deck went down with fresh upstands for both roof windows, and the roof was finished in torch-on felt, run up and around each window frame.
What we did
- Roof stripped to the joists
- New OSB deck
- New upstands for two roof windows
- Torch-on felt finish
Torch-On Felt Flat Roof in Santry
Santry, Dublin 9Felt Roofs
A rear extension in Santry with two roof windows. We opened the roof up to the joists, then built it back up with a new deck ready for felt.
The new torch-on felt was laid across the whole roof and sealed around both roof windows, with the front edge finished over the gutter so rainwater runs straight off.
What we did
- Roof opened up to the joists
- New deck laid
- Torch-on felt across the roof
- Felt sealed around two roof windows
Felt Flat Roof on a Dormer in Ranelagh
Ranelagh, Dublin 6Felt Roofs
The flat roof on top of a metal-clad rear dormer in Ranelagh was worn and water-stained across most of its surface. We stripped the old covering off and fixed new OSB deck boards over the joists.
A new felt roof was then laid over the deck and finished with trims along its edges. The dormer now has a clean, even covering that meets the slate roof and chimney neatly.
What we did
- Worn covering stripped off
- New OSB deck boards
- New felt roof laid
- Edge trims finished
Felt Flat Roof on a Dormer in Ringsend
Ringsend, Dublin 4Felt Roofs
A white-clad dormer on a tiled roof in Ringsend. We stripped the old roof covering and decking off the dormer back to the joists.
With a new deck in place, we torched on a new felt roof and finished it with a drip edge along the front, so rainwater falls clear of the cladding below rather than running down it.
What we did
- Old covering and deck stripped
- New deck on the joists
- Felt torched on
- Drip edge along the front
PVC Flat Roof on a New Extension in Saggart
Saggart, County DublinPVC Membrane Roofs
A new timber-frame rear extension in Saggart, roofed in a single-ply PVC membrane while the extension itself was still being built.
We covered the deck in grey PVC, formed the membrane up around two large rooflight openings and fitted PVC trims to the edges, leaving the roof watertight and ready for the glazing to go in.
What we did
- Grey PVC membrane across the deck
- Upstands around two rooflight openings
- PVC edge trims
- Roof ready for the glazing
Mariseal Flat Roofs on Two Extensions in Clontarf
Clontarf, Dublin 3Lava 20 Mariseal Waterproofing
Two side-by-side single-storey extensions in Clontarf, each with a flat roof and a rooflight. We laid new OSB decks on both roofs first.
We then applied a Mariseal liquid waterproofing system, working it up and around each rooflight upstand while the glazing was protected. Both roofs now have a seamless grey finish with no joints for water to get into.
What we did
- New OSB decks on both roofs
- Rooflights protected during the work
- Mariseal liquid waterproofing applied
- Upstands coated around each rooflight
Mariseal Flat Roof in Kilmainham
Kilmainham, Dublin 8Lava 20 Mariseal Waterproofing
The flat roof over a rear extension in Kilmainham had an old, worn covering. We stripped it back and laid a new OSB deck with a new kerb for the rooflight.
Every board joint was sealed before the Mariseal liquid waterproofing went on across the whole roof and up the rooflight kerb. The extension now has a seamless grey roof.
What we did
- Old covering stripped
- New OSB deck and rooflight kerb
- Board joints sealed
- Mariseal waterproofing across the roof
Mariseal Roof on a Garden Shed in Blanchardstown
Blanchardstown, Dublin 15Lava 20 Mariseal Waterproofing
A garden shed in Blanchardstown whose old felt roof had broken up. We took the roof off and fitted new joists, then boarded it with a new OSB deck.
The new deck was finished in a grey Mariseal liquid waterproofing system, rolled across the roof and over its edges. The shed now has a new roof structure and a seamless, watertight finish.
What we did
- Old felt roof removed
- New roof joists
- New OSB deck
- Mariseal waterproofing finish
Dry Verge Installation in Castleknock
Castleknock, Dublin 15Dry Verge
A brick house in Castleknock with tiled roofs on the main house, a rear extension and a side lean-to. We fitted a dry verge system along the gable edges of each roof.
The interlocking caps are fixed mechanically rather than bedded in mortar, so there is no mortar to crack or wash out, and the roof edges stay sealed against wind-driven rain. The dark caps match the roof tiles.
What we did
- Dry verge on every gable edge
- Main roof, extension and lean-to
- Caps matched to the roof tiles
- No mortar at the verges
