Roofline Repairs & Maintenance

Your roofline is the band of boards running along the eaves, where the roof overhangs the walls. It carries the gutters, closes off the rafter ends and lets air into the roof space.

  • Fascia and soffit repairs
  • Full uPVC replacement
  • Cleaning of uPVC roofline
  • Bargeboards on gable ends
  • Vented soffits for the loft

UPVC Fascias

The fascia is the upright board fixed to the ends of the rafters along the eaves. It supports the bottom edge of the roof covering and takes the weight of the gutter.

UPVC Soffits

Soffits close off the underside of the overhang, between the fascia and the wall. Vented soffits draw fresh air into the roof space, which helps stop condensation and mould forming in the loft.

FAQs

FAQs about our fascias and soffits service

These are the questions people usually ask before replacing their fascias and soffits.

How do I know my fascias and soffits need replacing?

Look for flaking paint, soft or split timber, dark staining under the gutters, gaps where birds are getting in, or boards that have started to sag. Gutters that no longer drain well can also point to a fascia that has moved. If a screwdriver pushes easily into the timber, it is rotten and due for replacement.

Do you take away the old boards?

Yes. We remove the old fascias, soffits and any gutters coming down, clear up as we go and take all of the waste away with us. When we leave, the new roofline is in place and there is nothing left behind for you to dispose of.

Can I choose a colour?

Yes. uPVC roofline is made in white and a range of colours and woodgrain finishes, so you can match your windows and doors or the style of the house. We will run through the options when we survey and price whichever finish you choose.

Is it safe to pressure wash uPVC fascias and soffits?

We would advise against it. A strong jet can drive water up behind the soffit and into the roof space, and handling a pressure washer at the top of a ladder is risky. A soft brush with warm soapy water is enough, and we can clean your roofline for you as part of a maintenance visit.

How much do new fascias and soffits cost?

It depends on the length of roofline, the height of the building, the access and whether gutters and bargeboards are being replaced at the same time. Every house is different, so we do not publish a price list. We will measure up and give you a free quote with everything included.

Will replacing the fascias affect my roof?

Not when it is handled with care. The bottom course of tiles or slates rests on the fascia, so we support it as the old board comes off and check the felt at the eaves. If that felt has perished where it dresses into the gutter, we can fit an eaves protection strip so water drains cleanly.
