What Is the Roofline?

The roofline is everything along the bottom edge and gable ends of your roof: the fascia board the gutter is fixed to, the soffit that closes the gap back to the wall, the bargeboards on the gables, and the gutters and downpipes that carry rainwater away. These parts work as a set. When one fails, the others usually feel it soon after.

Signs Your Roofline Needs Attention

Roofline trouble tends to show from the ground long before it reaches the inside of the house. If you spot any of these, it is worth getting someone up a ladder to look before the damage spreads into the rafters or the brickwork.

FAQs

FAQs About Our Roofline Service

These are the questions homeowners ask most when their fascias, soffits or gutters start to fail.

Can you just fit uPVC over my old timber fascias?

Capping over old boards is sometimes offered because it is quicker, but it hides whatever rot is already there and the timber keeps decaying underneath. We prefer to take the old boards off, check the rafter ends and fix to sound timber, so the new roofline is held by something that will last. If capping is genuinely suitable on your house, we will say so.

Should I replace the gutters at the same time as the fascias?

Usually yes. The gutters have to come down to change the fascias anyway, and old cast iron or tired plastic gutters rarely go back up cleanly. Doing both together saves a second visit and a second round of access costs.

Will I need scaffolding?

It depends on the height of the house and what is underneath the eaves. Bungalows and many two-storey houses can be done from ladders or a mobile tower. Taller buildings, steep ground or conservatories below the gutter line may need scaffold.

What colours do uPVC fascias and soffits come in?

White is the most common, but black, anthracite grey, brown and woodgrain finishes are widely available, and gutters can be matched to them. If you are replacing only part of the roofline, we will try to match what is already on the house so the new section does not stand out.

Do you do roofline work on commercial buildings?

Yes. We work on shops, offices, apartment blocks and industrial units as well as homes. Commercial roofline jobs often involve longer gutter runs, box gutters or larger downpipes, and we can plan the work around your opening hours so customers and staff are not disturbed.

Professional Roofline Services

Dublin Roofing Company has been fitting and repairing rooflines since 2018, on terraced houses, semi-detached homes, bungalows and commercial premises across Dublin, Kildare, Meath, Wicklow and Louth. We are roofers first, which matters at the eaves: we can see when the problem starts on the roof itself, such as a missing eaves felt or a slipped bottom course, and fix that while the scaffold is up.

The easiest way to start is a photo. Snap the worst section of fascia or gutter from the ground, send it to 089 968 1613 on WhatsApp, and we can usually tell you straight away whether it looks like a repair or a full replacement.

How It Works

How a Roofline Replacement Works

Most houses are done from scaffold or a tower in a day or two, depending on the length of the eaves and how much rot is found behind the old boards.
